What’s cooking in the brewery scene?
These days, plenty. What’s better than sipping a delicious freshly brewed beer on a hot summer day? We have a few favorite spots to hit when the temperature starts to climb.
Each brings a unique flavor to the brewery experience.
We’ll assume you’re of legal drinking age to be reading this …
The earliest proof of beer brewing comes from 3500-2900 B.C. That’s the same era cities were forming, so it makes sense. Folks needed a beer after moving all their stuff in.
In Iceland, that is. The Land of Fire and Ice was Europe’s first nation to ban alcohol in 1915. And they legalized other forms of alcohol in 1922. Beer took so long because of the rift the tiny country was having with Denmark.
You might have a collection of pilsners and T-shirts from your favorite breweries. Brewers use rad logos and label with professional designs that beam with artistry.
The perception of breweries is that they’re happy spots with delicious brews and nice people. Yep, that sounds about right.
Great entertainment and Lowcountry favorite dishes are a big influence here. Quigley’s Pint & Ale has a knowledgeable, friendly staff and incredible brews, too. You’ll find a fun, delicious variety of beer, food, and desserts here.
Hit Quigley’s for Happy Hour for discounts on appetizers and pints. Ask for the Nachos, and ask them to add roasted chicken. Yum.
Great food, excellent beer (40 on tap at Pawleys Tap & Pour.) It’s high-tech, with wristbands that help track what you pour. The Brew Burger is a big hit and might ruin you for all other burgers.
Grab sharables for your party to split up as you pour. Mini Lump Crab Cakes and Loaded Potato Fries are ideal for whatever you’re drinking.
There’s a good crew on deck to help you have a good time in this Georgetown watering hole. Choose from eight home-brewed selections on tap in a wonderful assortment. It’s a lovely place right on the river.
Give one of the porters or stouts a shot.
You’ll find a nice cluster of pub grub and live blues music in this knickknack-heavy saloon. Pawleys Island Tavern is an awesome place with terrific bartenders and a vibe you’ll be into. This is a neat dive bar to swing by.
The Island Country Club is an enormous burger you have to experience! And who can resist giving a dish called the Psycho Burger a go?
