10 Reasons to Choose a Quiet Beach Vacation in Litchfield
10 Reasons to Choose a Quiet Beach Vacation in Litchfield Not every beach getaway has to be filled with crowds, traffic, and a packed itinerary.
For most of us, taking a vacation is all about relaxation. And for practitioners of yoga, few things are more relaxing than gaining greater control of the mind and body via leveraging the ancient exercises. Further, with more than its fair share of beautiful and calming coastal settings, Pawleys Island is a natural fit for seeking out the kind of tranquility that only yoga can deliver.
Looking to find your own personal Zen during your next visit to the South Strand? Pay a visit to one of these five great places to enjoy a yoga class on the Grand Strand’s southern end:
At Murrells Inlet’s Brookgreen Gardens, nature and art come together to create one of the most calming spaces found nearly anywhere. And the attraction’s Yoga in the Garden events let guests enjoy the Hatha-based practice while surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the property’s botanical gardens/sculpture gardens.
At Pawleys Island Beach Yoga, yoga students of all skill levels are invited to perform yoga right on the beach (at Beach Access #56 in North Litchfield). The classes are held at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and no pre-registration is required to join. The fun-filled classes are also free of charge, though donations are accepted.
Everyone is welcome at Pawleys Island’s Beach Waves Yoga, regardless of their age, body type or skill level. The diverse class types available here include Yoga Basics, Vinyasa Flow, Power Flow, All Levels Flow, Pilates Mat, Power Vinyasa Flow and Ballet Fitness — and all are designed to restore well-being, improve health and boost quality of life.
Offering another opportunity to practice yoga in the great outdoors, Murrells Inlet’s Beach and Inlet Yoga holds classes and workshops right on the beach sands. (Don’t forget to bring your beach towel, blanket or old yoga mat!) Classes are held at 6 a.m. on Wednesdays at South Side Garden City Pier, at 7 a.m. on Fridays at Morse Park Landing, and at 7 a.m. on Sundays at North Litchfield Beach Access #53.
At Tidal Creek Brewhouse in Myrtle Beach’s Market Common district, yoga practitioners with good timing might even get the chance to join a yoga class complete with baby goats! The event is not a regularly scheduled one, so cross your fingers and keep your eyes open for another one of these fundraisers in the Tidal Creek Beer Garden.
