Head to Brookgreen Gardens for Summer Light: Art by Night

It’s like an incredible light studio — on the beautiful grounds of Brookgreen Gardens. Summer Light: Art By Night is on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 6-10 p.m., through Aug. 13. If you’ve been there, you know what a spectacle this can be.

Brookgreen Gardens members get in for $20 (adults) and $12 (children). Member season tickets are $50, and you can buy them online.  Non-members can get into Summer Light: Art By Night for $25 and $15.

What’s the Show All About?

There will be a combination of lighting schemes throughout the gardens, 10 to be exact. The numbers are staggering: Eight hundred upcycled chandeliers. Nine hundred wine bottle alcoves. If you’ve marveled at the experience in Beyond the Garden Wall and Oak Allee by day, wait until you see it at night.

What is Brookgreen Gardens?

It’s a place like no other on earth! Brookgreen Gardens: It’s where art, history, and nature coalesce in a bastion of serenity. Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington found Brookgreen Gardens in 1931. It’s since become the community’s prized cultural center. It’s a National Historic Landmark with accreditation from these prestigious organizations:

  • American Alliance of Museums
  • Association of Zoos and Aquariums
  • National Register of Historic Places.


From its start, Brookgreen Gardens has had a focus on conservation.

What Can You Do in Brookgreen Gardens?

A general admission ticket gives you access to:

  • Lowcountry History Center
  • Lowcountry Zoo

Your ticket is good for seven consecutive days.

Grab a drink in the Lowcountry Center, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Join them for light fare and lunch:

HARVEST RESTAURANT

Head to the Rainey Galleries for a full-service menu daily, 11 a.m.-3 -p.m. Among the offerings:

THE OLD KITCHEN

Find this eatery at the end of Live Oak Allee, and sit on the porch overlooking the gardens. The Old Kitchen is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and serves:
