Visitors to the South Strand can find some of the best spots for holiday photos. Check out these places:
Brookgreen Gardens: The ‘Jewel of the Grand Strand’
One of those spots is Brookgreen Gardens, which features what has been described as one of the world’s most significant collections of outdoor figurative sculptures. Brookgreen Gardens hosts various holiday and cultural events that offer great holiday photo opportunities. One of those that would make a particularly strong photo is “Nights of a Thousand Candles” in December, which features the soft glow of more than 2,700 hand-lit candles and millions of sparkling lights.
Other photo ops for adults and children include the Lowcountry Zoo, and all of the native animals in the zoo were bred and raised in captivity or have sustained a major disability due to injury. Photo opportunities for the children in vacationers’ travel group include the Butterfly House and the Peace Garden Room for Children, along with the fountains, reflecting pools, and hidden pathways.
Huntington Beach State Park: Many Photo Ops
Huntington Beach State Park offers so many things for visitors to do … and so many photo opportunities. One is the Coastal Exploration Program, and a naturalist will educate visitors about the park’s wildlife. Visitors can also learn a new hobby such as kayaking, beach combing or birding … and the photo ops for those speak for themselves. Other activities and photo opportunities at the park include a docent-led tour of Atalaya, a National Historic Landmark that was the winter retreat of 20th-century sculptor, Anna Hyatt Huntington and her husband, philanthropist and Spanish scholar, Archer Huntington.
Too Many Photo Ops to Mention: Myrtle Beach Boardwalk
It’s 1.2 miles of holiday photo opportunities. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk offers oceanfront views, shops and restaurants, along with the SkyWheel Myrtle Beach that stands 187 feet tall.
Visitors to one section of the boardwalk can snap photos of the serene, natural environment, and the second section allows photos of the SkyWheel along with more beachfront shops and restaurants for all the photo-taking that visitors can handle. Among the additional attractions and photo ops along the boardwalk include the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Odditorium and Nightmare Haunted House and its Zombie Zone feature that horrifies locals and photo-shooting tourists alike.
And Maybe the Best Photo Op: The Beach
For a great holiday photo, you can’t beat 60 miles of pristine sand with the Atlantic Ocean in the background. Try taking photos during the “golden hour” right before sunset, when the light is warmer and softer. And the area is known for its abundance of beaches that are all perfect for photo opportunities like that.
