Pawleys Island can provide the opposite of the hustle and bustle. If you’ve never been, you’re in for a treat. There’s a vibe in this region that thrives on serenity and that getaway attitude.
Here are our favorites when it’s time to eat, shop, and play in Pawleys Island.
Ever heard of the Gray Man? Legend has it this apparition shows up ahead of hurricanes, warning folks to leave. This list of attractions does nothing but invite folks to stay.
This castle in Murrells Inlet is special. It’s the historical winter home of a philanthropist and gifted sculptor. In Huntington Beach State Park, Atalaya is a must-see structure. It’s a favored location for weddings, photo takers, and anyone with an imagination.

Pawleys Island is a lot of things: beautiful, family-oriented, peaceful. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t have killer restaurants, though.
Relish an extensive menu and wine list at this dynamic, delightful restaurant. You must try the She Crab Soup, among other great southern favorites. You’ll detect a French and Mediterranean influence on the cuisine, too.
Visit the cozy dining space with the worldly menu, all by candlelight. You can’t go wrong with Pan Seared Mahi with New Orleans Style Creole with Okra, nor with the ambiance. Reservations are recommended. Frank’s and Frank’s Outback are two distinct dining experiences. Come see for yourself.
This modern restaurant has a patio and serves southern comfort food and cocktails. With a Southern Poke Bowl and incredible Mimosas, there’s a lot to love at this table. It’s where the former Island Café and Deli was, in the middle of Pawleys Island.
Pawleys Island’s first residents were Waccamaw and Winyah Native Americans. They called this place Chicquola or Chicora. That means land. Luckily, it’s still land, for the most part, with a few cool shops here and there.
The hammock is an excellent symbol for Pawleys Island. It invokes the image of tranquility. The Original Hammock Shop is the jewel of this amazing village. This hub for shopping, dining, and playing has been in service since 1938 with 21 shops and two eateries.
Inside the Hammocks Shop Village, Carolina Gourmet is the ultimate gift shop. It’s an awesome little store with locally-made mixes for cake, grits, soups, and more. Plus desserts, fresh coffee beans, jams … the list goes on.
